Born in 1992 and signed by Arsenal in 2010, Emi Martinez was sent on six loans before finally seizing his chance in the Arsenal first team following a knee injury to Bernd Leno at Brighton in June, 2020.

Wearing the Arsenal number 26 shirt, Martinez was so overcome with emotion after helping Arsenal win the 2020 FA Cup he couldn’t stop crying long enough to give an interview to the BBC.

He was sold to Aston Villa in 2020 for approx. £15m after demanding he be made first choice goalkeeper after a run of 10 games.
