From Bruno Guimarães to William Saliba, and from incoming prospects to uncertain exits, here’s where the biggest Arsenal stories stand.
Arsenal continue to pursue a move for Bruno Guimarães, with reports suggesting the club are preparing a £70 million bid after agreeing personal terms with the midfielder.
While Chelsea have also been linked, reports claim those suggestions have been played down, with sources at Stamford Bridge denying any active interest. Newcastle remain reluctant to sell and are expected to reject an offer at that level, although Mikel Arteta is said to be pushing hard to complete the deal.
Another report suggests Arsenal are already planning to return with an improved bid above £70 million next week, even if Newcastle’s valuation remains the biggest obstacle.
Arsenal are also close to strengthening at academy level after agreeing a deal for highly rated Cardiff City teenager Axel Donczew. The Welsh attacker, Cardiff’s youngest-ever player, has reportedly completed his medical and is expected to join the club’s Hale End academy.
Defensive reinforcement has also become a priority following confirmation that William Saliba faces several months on the sidelines with a back fracture, despite avoiding surgery.
Arsenal are assessing a number of potential replacements, with free agent John Stones, Ezri Konsa and Jacobo Ramon all linked as the club consider the best balance between cost, experience and long-term suitability.
One player who now appears to be moving away from Arsenal’s plans is Yan Diomande.
Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are now leading the race for the youngster, while Arsenal and Manchester City have reportedly cooled their interest.
Some reports suggest that could ultimately benefit Arsenal should Real Madrid’s pursuit have implications for Vinicius Junior‘s future.
Vinicius himself continues to be linked with Arsenal, with reports describing the Brazilian as an ideal addition to Arteta’s attack. Any move remains highly unlikely because of Real Madrid’s stance, the financial package involved and the player’s importance, although suggestions persist that circumstances could yet change, especially due to Jose Mourinho‘s arrival at the club.
Another attacking name under discussion is Julian Alvarez. Arsenal remain interested, but face strong competition, with the forward reportedly favouring a move to Barcelona, who are also apparently pursuing Viktor Gyokeres, further complicating the situation.
In France, Bradley Barcola has reportedly rejected a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain, increasing speculation over his future. Arsenal are among the clubs linked, although any deal would require a substantial transfer fee and Liverpool seem in the lead.
Outgoing business also continues to develop. Reiss Nelson is attracting interest from Benfica, Valencia and Fulham, with the latter two currently appearing among the strongest options.
Meanwhile, Fabio Vieira remains keen on a permanent return to Hamburg after a successful loan spell.
The Bundesliga club, however, cannot meet Arsenal’s asking price, with reports indicating they can only stretch to around €10 million, roughly half the purchase option included in the loan agreement, leaving the midfielder’s future unresolved.
