The Daily Mail report that Ben White is set to open formal talks with Arsenal over a contract extension, with the club looking to secure his long-term future.

White’s current deal has three years left to run, but the Gunners believe his progress since joining should be rewarded.

Talks over new terms are expected to start within weeks, according to the report.

Football insider Team News and Ticks previously reported that initial talks were ongoing on a contract extension for White, with nothing agreed yet.

Charles Watts told TEAMtalk earlier in the summer that White and Odegaard would be the next two players in line for contract extensions, and Odegaard now appears close to a new deal.

The Times reported in May that White could be among those to be offered improved terms after deals for the likes of Saka and Saliba were sorted.

White has proven a key player for Mikel Arteta since signing from Brighton and Hove Albion, playing 88 times for the Gunners.

The defender has played every minute for the 2023/24 campaign for Arsenal so far.
