Ben White and Martin Odegaard are the next players in line for new contracts at Arsenal, and both are expected to extend without any problems.

Arsenal have done a lot of good business over the last 12 months or so, making important signings and extending the contracts of a number of key players.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Aaron Ramsdale, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and William Saliba are just some of the players to extend their deals this year, but the Gunners aren’t stopping there.

Speaking to TEAMtalk, Charles Watts revealed the next two players on the list for new contracts.

“Ben White and Martin Odegaard will be the next two,” Watts said. “And I’m sure that will happen – that those two will get signed up. Those will certainly be the two priorities now.

“I don’t really have any concerns that those two are going to become any sort of sagas, I think it’ll both get signed up, and they’ll both extend. And that’s it.

“All those players have signed on. And I fully expect Martin Odegaard and Ben White to follow pretty soon.”

Odegaard has a contract with Arsenal until 2025, though the club have an option to extend it to 2026. The situation clearly isn’t urgent yet, but it’s better to get it sorted while things are going well.

Speaking to the media in June, Odegaard said he hadn’t held new contract talks with Arsenal yet, but he’s more than happy where he is.

“I’m very happy at Arsenal and I hope to stay here for a long time,” Odegaard said. “Let’s see on contract situation after the summer.

“I didn’t speak to Arsenal, it’s not on me honestly; no rush, my contract is still long.”

Odegaard made 37 Premier League appearances in Arsenal’s 38 games in 2022/23, starting all 37. Only Ramsdale, Gabriel, and Saka played more of the league campaign.

The midfielder scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in the league, making this his best-ever league goal contributions tally for a season (eclipsing his 18 with Vitesse in 2018/19).

As for White, the former Brighton man joined on a five-year deal in 2021, so he’s also under contract until 2026.

The Times reported in May that White could be among those to be offered improved terms after deals for the likes of Saka and Saliba were sorted. Now that that’s happened, it seems like only a matter of time.

Though he played fewer minutes than Odegaard in the Premier League last season, White actually featured in more games, playing in all 38. He scored a couple of goals and assisted five.
