Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.
According to Relevo, the German team are impressed with Ceballos’ recent performances, which have convinced head coach Julian Nagelsmann that the Spanish international could be a valuable addition to the Bayern midfield.
Nagelsmann is said to appreciate Ceballos’ playing style, which he feels would fit well with other players in the team, such as Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala.
Despite this interest, there has been no formal contact or offer made by Bayern, with the club currently focused on their Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain and a close Bundesliga title race. Three clubs top the Bundesliga with 43 points after 21 games, although Bayern Munich sit above them all with a much superior goal difference.
Real Madrid, likewise, are also at a crucial point in their season, with a crucial match against Liverpool and an eight-point gap to Barcelona who sit on top of La Liga.
For his part, Ceballos has stated that his priority is to stay at Real Madrid as long as the team values him and gives him regular playing time, something he has finally achieved in 2023, thanks to injuries to others, after a few years of struggling for consistency.
His contract with Madrid is set to expire at the end of the season, and he has been free to negotiate with other clubs since January 1.
However, Ceballos has stated that money is not his primary concern, as he wants to be a regular part of a team that competes for major trophies.
That hasn’t stopped some in the Spanish press of accusing him of getting ready to betray Real Madrid for €10m.
Despite interest from other clubs, including those in Spain (Real Betis, Atletico Madrid), Ceballos is reportedly focused on his current situation and is not looking to make any major moves until after the season ends.
Real Madrid, for their part, have either offered, or are prepared to offer, Ceballos a new contract, potentially with a higher salary than previously offered, if he maintains his current form.
