According to reports, Barca, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and a few other clubs were interested in the striker even before the tournament but demand has soared since.

While Barcelona believe they are the frontrunners to sign Roque, Arsenal are reportedly willing to ‘do anything’ to secure his signature.

His agent has reportedly informed Barcelona that Athletico Paranaense would be willing to sell for a price between €35m and €40m, and Barcelona plans to send a delegation to Brazil to negotiate a deal.

This is contrary to previous reports that claimed Vitor Roque’s team increased their asking price for the 17-year-old striker to €60m.

Arsenal interest in Brazilian striker ramps up after Edu contact

Despite the high price, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly given the green light to pursue Roque. The Gunners have initiated preliminary talks and are considering making a move for the young Brazilian.

According to reports, it was Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s Technical Director, who initiated contact with Roque’s agent.

However, the Gunners have not yet made a specific offer.
