Arsenal are reportedly after Napoli’s central midfielder Jorginho so we take a look at some of the reasons why Arsene Wenger might want him.

Jorginho has been a transfer target for Arsenal for a few years and the Gunners seem ready to go and get the Brazil born midfielder who plays for Italy. The most recent reports from Italy say that Arsenal have in fact sent a bid of around £15m that got rejected (although his agent denies this but has confirmed Arsenal’s interest) and it remains to be seen if Arsene Wenger is determined enough to improve the bid.

The 25-year-old central midfielder made 31 appearances for Napoli last season contributing three assists, and although he doesn’t provide much in attack it’s his defensive work that stands out.

Would he fit at Arsenal?

Jorginho has the ability and all the right skills to become one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League and he would fit alongside Xhaka perfectly. The duo have plenty of quality in terms of passing and vision and their defensive work would give much needed stability in the centre of the pitch.

The fact that Arsene Wenger has tracked him since 2014 shows great interest from the manager Jorginho, but he has yet to pull the trigger on a move.

The reported £15m bid from Arsenal does seem low and Napoli had every right to reject any talks about the player.

Now, the next move is on Arsene Wenger and he needs to show determination and consider a more acceptable sum of around £30m in order to get the deal done.
