Arsenal are reportedly after Napoli’s central midfielder Jorginho so we take a look at some of the reasons why Arsene Wenger might want him.

Jorginho has been a transfer target for Arsenal for a few years and the Gunners seem ready to go and get the Brazil born midfielder who plays for Italy. The most recent reports from Italy say that Arsenal have in fact sent a bid of around £15m that got rejected (although his agent denies this but has confirmed Arsenal’s interest) and it remains to be seen if Arsene Wenger is determined enough to improve the bid.

The 25-year-old central midfielder made 31 appearances for Napoli last season contributing three assists, and although he doesn’t provide much in attack it’s his defensive work that stands out.

Style and strengths

Jorginho is an excellent reader of the game and makes 1.93 interceptions per-game and while in possession he remains calm under pressure and finds the best option to play a perfectly weighted pass.

With a 91% of passing success rate he is one of the best passers in the game and he uses his passing skills to open up space behind the defence, creating 1.41 chances and playing 1.3 key passes per-game.

Even though he is not the greatest dribbler, he uses his agility and strength to take on his opponents and succeeds in 78.57% attempts.
