Arsenal are reportedly after Napoli’s central midfielder Jorginho so we take a look at some of the reasons why Arsene Wenger might want him.

Jorginho has been a transfer target for Arsenal for a few years and the Gunners seem ready to go and get the Brazil born midfielder who plays for Italy. The most recent reports from Italy say that Arsenal have in fact sent a bid of around £15m that got rejected (although his agent denies this but has confirmed Arsenal’s interest) and it remains to be seen if Arsene Wenger is determined enough to improve the bid.

The 25-year-old central midfielder made 31 appearances for Napoli last season contributing three assists, and although he doesn’t provide much in attack it’s his defensive work that stands out.

Weaknesses

His defensive work is admirable and he is a really valuable player for the squad that fills in the gaps and puts pressure on opponents.

Unfortunately, his tackling doesn’t go alongside his reading of the game and the player should improve this aspect of his game.

He wins an average of 1.74 tackles per game, but loses 2.63 and commits 1.04 fouls per game.

His aerial ability is decent and isn’t a significant weakness as he wins 44% of all aerial duels. If he could put some work in to his ability to position himself and leap of the ground, it would give him even bigger advantage.
