Spanish football journalist, Kike Marin, is back at it again with his ITK info that probably has no weight behind it.

Although Marin, who works for reputable Spanish publication El Confidencial, has been right about some rumours in the past – for example, Hector Bellerin’s new contract – he’s often wrong. Remember when Karim Benzema was going to sign with us after Arsene Wenger made an inquiry to Real Madrid? Or we were going to buy Robert Lewandowski as back-up? Or when we bid €60m for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

You get the idea.

Now, Marin is claiming that we are keen on bringing in N’Golo Kante, which isn’t exactly reaching considering every other journalist on the planet has linked us with the Leicester City midfielder already. However, he’s added that we face competition from Manchester United.

The issue is, although Kante and Wenger have both been coy about the Premier League winners’ future with the Foxes, we have just bought Granit Xhaka who plays in the same position. With the amount it would take to bring Kante to north London added onto the sum we paid for Xhaka, how much would be have left? More importantly, do you really see Wenger buying another central midfielder this window?
