N’Golo Kante has been pretty vague about his future at Leicester City saying that he’s there… ‘for now’.
In an interview with L’Equipe, the French midfielder claimed that he doesn’t pay much attention to the rumours surrounding a potential move and that ‘for now’ he’s just focused on the Euros.
“I do not pay too much attention to everything that is said,” Kante claimed.
“For now, I am in Leicester and I focus on the euro.”
To be honest, if I was a Leicester fan, I would be a little uncomfortable with these comments. Phrases like ‘for now’ strike fear into fans’ hearts because unless a player comes out and says they’re 100% staying and gets the club’s badge tattooed on their backside, they’re usually off.
I’ll put it this way: how many times, as Gooners, have we heard players say something along the lines of, “at the moment, I’m an Arsenal player,” and then they fly off the minute after the final whistle of the last game of the season?
Hey, I might be cynical. The Foxes did win the Premier League this season and are therefore in the Champions League next. That has some pulling power and Kante may well stay. But with Arsenal and PSG both beckoning… I refuse to believe the midfielder has no idea.
Remember when even Arsene Wenger was coy over the link?
