Eddie Nketiah has just six months left on his Arsenal contract, and a couple of Premier League teams looked to be trying to take advantage of that situation to pry him away from North London in January.

Crystal Palace have reportedly made two bids for the player, whilst Newcastle United considered Nketiah a priority signing just a few days ago.

Luke Edwards now reports that there’s “no chance” Newcastle sign Nketiah, adding that the striker is staying at Arsenal.

The Tyneside club are closing in on a deal for Reims forward Ekitike instead.

Fabrizio Romano adds that Newcastle’s approaches were turned down yesterday, and Arsenal have no intention to find an alternative buyer. Nketiah will stay until the end of the season.

The final dagger in any potential Nketiah move came in the form of a David Ornstein tweet minutes later, confirming that Nketiah is going nowhere.

On Sunday, Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge reported that Arsenal had turned down a second bid from Crystal Palace for Eddie Nketiah, with the club keen to keep the striker.

Ryan Taylor of the Daily Express added that whilst there’s still interest in Nketiah, Mikel Arteta is determined to keep him.

Nketiah has scored five goals in 10 Arsenal appearances this season, all of which came in the League Cup. The 22-year-old has only played a total of 51 minutes in the Premier League this campaign.
