Paul Pogba will miss Manchester United’s clash with Arsenal, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave an updated injury timeframe before he was sacked.

Paul Pogba was ruled out for Manchester United’s defeat to Watford at the weekend twice over, as he was both suspended and injured for the match.

Pogba had been sent off during United’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool, but things got worse for him as he then picked up an injury on international duty.

Speaking in one of his final press conferences as Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Pogba wouldn’t be back anytime soon.

“I would say months rather than weeks,” Solskjaer said on Pogba’s return date.

“It was a disappointing injury for Paul. I’m not a doctor of course and we can’t say how quickly it will heal.

“Sometimes you hope for six or seven weeks and the worst-case scenario is 10, 11, 12 weeks with muscle injuries like this.

“Hopefully just after Christmas, we can see him.”

Arsenal travel to Old Trafford long before that, with the match scheduled for December 2nd – just 11 days away. So there’s no chance Pogba will feature.

In other related news, Solskjaer’s sacking means a new boss will be in the dugout to face Arsenal in that upcoming fixture.

United report that Michael Carrick is taking temporary charge while they look for an interim manager.

Unless they appoint one very quickly, it looks like Carrick will be the man facing off against Mikel Arteta.
