Crystal Palace will try to sign one of Eddie Nketiah or former Arsenal target, Celtic forward, Odsonne Edouard.

Eddie Nketiah is unlikely to be an Arsenal player when the window closes with the only real questions resting on his destination and if it will be a loan or a permanent deal, although it seems to be the latter

Crystal Palace have been consistently linked with a move for the England u21 forward who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Arsenal.

The Guardian report that Patrick Vieira is keen to add another forward to his Palace squad and believe that Arsenal will likely lower their original £20m asking price to facilitate Nketiah’s exit.

Odsonne Edouard was linked with both Arsenal and Leicester this summer although he was always more likely to end up with the Foxes. They then got fed up waiting for him to make a decision and signed Patson Daka instead.

Edouard was likely to move for around £15m which is a price I’m sure Arsenal would accept for Nketiah if Palace were willing to pay it.

Nketiah is currently sidelined with an ankle injury that he picked up in pre-season against Chelsea. He is expected to be fit again after the international break.

With just one year left on his Arsenal contract, Nketiah has 13 goals in 65 appearances although he has only played 2,520 minutes. That equals a goal every two games or so, not bad for a player who rarely gets a chance.

Given a run of games, Nketiah would certainly start banging them in from all parts of the six-yard box for any club. Nketiah’s 11th goal for Arsenal was from nine yards out, raising his overall average distance from goal to 5.4 yards.

He is the definition of a poacher.
