According to a report from Italy, Juventus are NOT looking to sell Aaron Ramsey this summer, rather, they just want to send him out on loan for the season if his injury problems don’t improve.
There has been much talk of Ramsey signing for another Premier League club with Juve reportedly looking to make a quick profit on a player they picked up for nothing last summer.
The problem, however, is that they agreed to pay Ramsey £400kpw and no club on the planet will want to match that on a permanent basis, not in our new locked away world, anyway.
According to a report in Tuttojuve on Monday, Juventus will only sell Ramsey ‘in the case of the arrival of a great midfielder’ in a swap deal to offset any purchase price. Or if they get a stupidly good offer for him, which clearly rules out Arsenal.
Until then, they could look to send Ramsey out on loan if his injury problems continue.
As it has always been…
Injuries, as we know, have been a constant feature of Ramsey’s career ever since he met Ryan Shawcross in Stoke 10 years ago.
In fact, his Arsenal career petered out as he sat on the sidelines nursing another thigh injury
Since leaving for Italy, the 29-year-old has picked up five different injuries, although one of those was down to not being fit after being injured so long at Arsenal.
Juventus returned to action on Friday 12 June against AC Milan in a game they won 2-0 to set up a final appearance against Napoli.
Ramsey was not included in the squad for that game because of an ‘unknown injury’.
It is not yet confirmed if he will be fit enough to take part in the final on Wednesday night in a match that kicks off at the same time as his old club return to action in Manchester.
Speaking at the end of May, Ramsey said, “I am feeling really good. We began with training individually, which was a bit strange, but I felt safe as everyone was respecting the rules.
“Then we went into full training with the team, which is really nice to be back on the pitch playing and doing what we love…
“Italy was one of the first countries to go into lockdown. I decided to stay here. It was obviously difficult, staying indoors and for many hours but a lot of positives also came from it, being with my family and having that time with them. I will forever be grateful to have that continuous time with them.”
His injury was reported seven days later.
So far this season, Ramsey has played 798 minutes for the Old Lady across 15 games in Serie A with just nine starts and has played the full 90 just once. He’s scored three goals (all with his right foot), grabbed one assist and created 16 chances.
Across all competitions, he’s played just 1,097 minutes, scored four and created one. He completed 90 minutes for Juventus once in those 24 matches and that was during their last match in Serie A before the world closed.
It was a 2-0 home win over Inter Milan in which Ramsey scored and assisted.
Ramsey suffered 14 reported injuries at Arsenal after Shawcross snapped his leg when he was just 18. Seven of those involved his hamstrings while three concerned his thigh and another two his groin.
That area is clearly a problem for him and, after a decade of trying to overcome the issues, it seems unlikely he’s going to magically fix it the closer he gets to 30.
