According to MilanNewsit journalist Antonio Vitiello, Bennacer landed in Milan at 1pm on Monday to complete his move to AC. He then travelled directly to La Madonnina clinic for the first part of his medical with the club.

This report was then backed up with a picture from Radio Rossonera to show the player arriving.

Previous reports from Di Marzio suggested Bennacer’s move to Milan was a done deal for €16m, plus €1m in add-ons. He’s reportedly signing a five-year contract with the club.

Arsenal had the opportunity to match that fee and bring Bennacer back to North London instead, but they decided to focus on other signings.

As a result, Arsenal will pick up €4.8m from their sell-on clause in the Algeria international’s contract, plus €0.3m if the add-on criteria are met. Clearly, the club preferred the boost to their finances in pursuit of their existing targets.

Bennacer won the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria this summer, and he had an impressive season in Serie A with Empoli last year. It’s no surprise to see a big club coming in for the Arsenal academy graduate. Good luck to him with the move!
