Mesut Ozil has revealed that he could end up in America playing in the MLS, and he appears to be hankering after LA Galaxy.
The Arsenal man is expected to begin contract negotiations with Arsenal as he enters the fourth year of the original five-year deal he signed when he first rocked up in north London.
Still only 27, Ozil is certainly a few years away from heading Stateside just yet but it’s well worth noting that in his professional career he has moved every two or three years – until he signed for Arsenal (Schalke 2005-2008, Werder Bremen 2008-2010, Real Madrid 2010-2103). As he said himself, ‘that says a lot.’
“The MLS could be an option,” Ozil told the media while on international duty. “I spent my holidays in Los Angeles and it is a city that inspires me.
“I do not rule out playing there one day.”
Ozil played the full 90 minutes as Germany got their World Cup defence under way with a 3-0 win against Norway on Sunday.
The Arsenal man was at his imperial best and played a vital role in two of the three goals, this time assisting the assister rather than the goalscorer.
Always good to mix things up.
