Simons, still just 20 years old, switched representation last week, placing his career in the hands of English agents Darren Dein and Stuart Peters. De Mos, citing the agents’ deep-seated connections with Arsenal, speculates Simons may be setting his sights on the Premier League.

“Maybe he’s thinking about Arsenal,” De Mos stated, in a recent video chat. “His new agents have many contacts at Arsenal. Arsène Wenger was also there.” The former coach’s comments have fanned the flames of speculation, with Arsenal fans eager to see the talented Dutchman don the iconic red and white.

A shining star in PSV’s season

Simons has been a shining light in PSV’s season, scoring 19 goals and contributing significantly to the team’s Eredivisie campaign. Following the January sales of Noni Madueke and Cody Gakpo, Simons has emerged as PSV’s key asset. His performances have not only drawn the attention of Arsenal but also Liverpool and PSG, with a potential return to the French capital on the cards.

However, the change in agent, particularly to those with strong ties to Arsenal, is an intriguing development. It is known that Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s technical director, has kept a keen eye on the young talent, fuelling the belief that Simons could soon grace the Emirates Stadium.

Despite this, PSV’s technical director, Earnest Stewart, hopes to retain Simons’ services. “PSV will have to take steps,” he acknowledged, indicating that the Dutch club would fight to keep their star player who has a contract that runs until 2027.

However, the allure of the Premier League and Arsenal’s illustrious history could sway Simons. With Arsenal’s commitment to nurturing young talent under Mikel Arteta, the stage might be set for another chapter in Simons’ blossoming career.
