Arsenal are certainly going to buy a new right-back this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, amid all the recent rumours concerning the position.

Speaking on the SFeatleyTV YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano claimed there’s no doubt Arsenal will be signing a new right-back this summer.

“I can say that 100% Arsenal will buy a new right-back, it is something sure,” Romano said emphatically.

The journalist also recently reported that there’s a huge chance Hector Bellerin leaves the Gunners this summer, and you’d have to imagine the two stories are heavily linked.

If Bellerin goes, Arsenal really have no choice but to invest in the position. Plus, given the likes of Juventus, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are among those linked with the 26-year-old, he should go for a pretty good fee – raising funds for a replacement.

Romano has cast doubt on a move for Tariq Lamptey, but there are links in the media to Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi, among others.

As we’ve said before, it’s too early to judge the likelihood of the various right-back incomings when we don’t know exactly what kind of offers Bellerin will command, whether Arsenal will have European football, and what their budget will look like.

But according to Romano, we should at least expect someone to join in the position.
