The Telegraph report that Arsenal have begun their preparations to recruit in the right-back position this summer. Assuming Hector Bellerin leaves, the club will look to sign a new first-choice player in the position.

The same report adds that Arsenal have an interest in Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi, who moved to Italy from Real Madrid in 2020. Hakimi previously spent two seasons on loan with Borussia Dortmund.

The Athletic wrote in January that the player is open to a move to the Premier League, and Arsenal considered him over the summer. But at the time they held onto Bellerin and couldn’t afford the asking price as a result.

That situation would obviously change if they sold Bellerin this time around, which seems like a possibility at the moment.

Inter Milan are struggling financially, to the extent they had to delay their first payment to Real Madrid for Hakimi. As a result, it’s possible they’ll consider a sale to anyone willing to pick up the tab for the player.

Often playing right-wing-back this season, Hakimi has six goals and five assists in 34 matches.
