The Sunday Mirror claim that Arsenal plan to hijack West Ham’s move for Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard in a rumour that has Arsenal fans feeling a little queasy.

There’s no denying that Jesse Lingard has come to life again after signing on loan for the Hammers.

The 28-year-old, who is currently valued at around £13.5m, has six goals and four assists in 11 appearances this season which is impressive by anyone’s standards.

Still, Arsenal fans can’t stand him, despite this West Ham site claiming Arsenal fans were ‘raving about  him’ and want to sign him.

Lingard is one of those players who has mostly been rubbish but likes to turn up and score against Arsenal. In total, he has five goals and two assists in nine games against the Gunners.

He has never scored more than three against any other side.

In short, he’s annoying.

The Mirror claim Arsenal tried to sign Lingard on loan in January before losing out to West Ham, although how much Arsenal ‘lost out’ when it was down to United not wanting to send him on loan to Arsenal is up for debate.

You have to think, then, that if the Gunners are genuinely interested that the same would apply in the summer should Arsenal try to by him.

Arsenal were also reportedly interested in signing Lingard last summer.
