On this day in 1950 Charlie George was born while in 1966, Tony Adams arrived in this world and in 1880 Jimmy Sharp.
Two very different Arsenal legends but both sharing the same birthday, they will be remembered for very different things.
George played for Arsenal between 1968 and 1975, making 133 appearances for the club and scoring that famous FA Cup goal.
While at the club, George won the league and FA Cup in the ’71 Double as well as the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 11970.
Adams, meanwhile, was at the club from 1983-2002, making 670 appearances for Arsenal, winning the league four times, the FA Cup three times, the League Cup twice and the European Cup Winner’s Cup.
Both men now have statues at Arsenal, Adam’s on the concourse outside the stadium, George’s in the Arsenal museum.
Jimmy Sharp, who played for Arsenal over 100 times between 1905 and 1908 was also born on this day in 1880.
In 1908, Rangers signed the Scottish left-back for £400 after 114 appearances for Arsenal and five goals.
