David Luiz did not go on strike to force a move from Chelsea to Arsenal the Chelsea head coach has said but that hasn’t stopped the Daily Mail having a number of digs at the Arsenal defender.

David Luiz was a surprise addition to the Arsenal squad late in the transfer window.

As his move approached there were reports he was refusing to train with his teammates in order to force a move. This prompted much hair-pulling from the media that has continued into the weekend, despite Chelsea denying that it’s true.

“We had some conversations over the last week, honest conversations because I know David well,” Lampard said. “And I think the conclusion of that was that he moved on.

“There certainly wasn’t any strikes. I’ll make that clear straight away. And in terms of fallouts, no, there weren’t. There were honest conversations. As a player, I always respected honesty from a manager whatever the news. And I think I got that back from David hence why he ends up moving on to Arsenal. There were no strikes.”

That’s pretty clear, right?
