Arsenal are set to wear their yellow away kit against Newcastle United on Sunday, in their first competitive fixture of the season.

Arsenal have confirmed that they’ll wear the yellow away shirt with the usual dark blue shorts on Sunday, whilst the goalkeeper on the day will wear all blue. Newcastle will wear their black and white home kit, of course, with their goalkeeper in all green.

Arsenal have already given their away kit a lot of screen time during their pre-season tour. They wore it during victories over Bayern Munich and Fiorentina, the penalty shootout win over Angers, and the late defeat to Barcelona – four of the seven games.

The red and white home kit was deemed to clash with Newcastle’s black and white kit, whilst Arsenal are still yet to release their 2019/20 third kit.

Official photos of the third kit have leaked, however, and the blue shirt is combined with black shorts. As a result, it probably wouldn’t have been appropriate to wear for this fixture anyway.

Hopefully, Arsenal actually get around to announcing that third kit at some stage. For now, the Gunners need to get off to a winning start in their first competitive game wearing the away shirt.
