On Monday morning, Arsenal’s Twitter account decided to poke an angry wasps’ nest by reminding Gooners that on this day in 2014, the club signed Alexis Sanchez.
- Alexis meets with Guardiola, agrees personal terms
- Alexis Sanchez open to Chelsea move as betting suspended on Manchester City switch
- Arsenal will only sell Alexis to City if they cough up £80m
Arsenal’s social media person seems to have a death wish because only a fool would point out that on this day three years ago was the day the Gunners signed Alexis from Barcelona…
You know, Alexis? Their current best player? Who wants to leave this summer?

The Chilean’s future at Arsenal has never been less certain, with reports swirling over the 28-year-old’s potential reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
As Gooners pointed out in reply to the tweet, if this was how the club was going to announce that the forward had just penned a new deal with Arsenal, who are rumoured to have offered him £280k-per-week, then it would be genius. However, this doesn’t appear to be the case.
And on this day he'll sign for city

And on this day in 2017 we sell him to a direct rival? Please avoid mentioning his name from now on.
