On Wednesday, Genoa confirmed the permanent acquisition of Brooke Norton-Cuffy from Arsenal, with the player taking the number 15 at his new club.

In response to the move, Norton-Cuffy sent a farewell to Arsenal.

It’s time to say goodbye to Arsenal,” Norton-Cuffy said on social media. “Thank you for everything.  I’ve made so many good memories at this club and learnt a lot.

“Thanks to team-mates, coaches, fans and everyone involved in my journey. Now it’s time for a new chapter.”

Norton-Cuffy held his medical on Wednesday morning, after Arsenal and Genoa reached an agreement for the transfer earlier in the week.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are set to receive a €2m fixed fee, a potential further €2m in add-ons, as well as having a sell-on clause for a future sale.

That’s around £3.5m in total, excluding the sell-on clause, which fits with reports from elsewhere.

Norton-Cuffy spent last season on loan with Millwall in the Championship, playing 40 times, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

The defender was consistently in the Millwall starting lineup for the first half of the season, but he was generally used as a substitute from February onwards.

After his return from Millwall, Norton-Cuffy held back from participation with Arsenal in pre-season as he looked to secure a transfer elsewhere. That deal is now done, and he’s set for a new start in Serie A.
