Arsenal are trying to tie Bukayo Saka down to a long-term contract, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich after the 18-year-old.

The Daily Mail claim Arsenal are trying to fight off interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich to tie Saka down to a new contract. The academy graduate is currently 18 months from the end of his £3,000-per-week deal.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard about Arsenal attempts to extend Saka’s deal. A report in October suggested the club were holding negotiations with the teenager already. At the time, Saka appeared close to signing.

It’s a little worrying that we’re still in the same situation four months later.

Of course, it’s not hard to argue Saka and Arsenal were focusing elsewhere, with two changes in head coach and a busy festive fixture list. They need to sort out the contract now though.

The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract with the club back in September 2018. At the time, he was only breaking into the u23s, emphasising just how quickly he’s rising to the top by making himself a first-team regular barely over a year later.

At this point, we’re relying on Saka’s loyalty to the club that brought him through. We know he’s more likely to get Champions League football and trophies with Liverpool or Bayern right now. He probably wouldn’t get half as many games though.

Arsenal have another busy period of fixtures coming up now. A few wins would surely help put Saka in the mood to extend.
