The Mirror report that after starting Arsenal’s last three Premier League games, the club are looking to tie him down to a new long-term deal. The report suggests Saka is already ‘set to sign’ the contract, with negotiations well underway.

We don’t have exact details of Saka’s current contract, but we know he signed his first professional deal in September 2018 and hasn’t extended since then.

Since under-18s can’t sign contracts for more than three years, we know that Saka’s current deal expires in 2021 at the latest. After celebrating his 18th birthday in September, it’s no surprise Arsenal are now looking to extend for longer.

Saka has a goal and three assists in five appearances for the Arsenal senior side this season, and it seems like he’s almost become a first-choice starter, though he faces competition from Reiss Nelson and Gabriel Martinelli on the left.

If the reports are accurate, the new contract would be well deserved for Arsenal’s star academy player last season, who looks to be having no problem stepping up.
