Damning stat that shows how crucial Santi Cazorla is to Arsenal
Cazorla suffered an Achilles problem during Arsenal’s 6-0 thumping of Ludogorets at the Emirates back on 19 October.
The 32-year-old reappeared shortly after being subbed off merely holding an ice-pack to his ankle and Arsene Wenger he’d been ‘kicked’ post-match.
However, as time progressed and Cazorla failed to return to training, Gooners began to fear the worst regarding the injury-prone midfielder’s latest problem.
Sure enough, in December, the Spaniard was flown to Sweden, where he had surgery on his ankle, and then later underwent another procedure to close up the scar.
While Arsene Wenger has ruled out one of the Gunners’ most influential players for the rest of the season, it’s concerning to hear that, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, he may not even be recovered in time for the beginning of the next campaign.
If he really is out until October, Cazorla will have been sidelined for an entire year.
