Arsenal youth goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard has returned to the starting lineup for loan club Brabrand IF in recent matches, after six games out of the team.

Daily Cannon recently covered Lucas Nygaard’s absence from the Brabrand IF team, with the Arsenal loan goalkeeper benched (or absent entirely) for six consecutive fixtures in favour of player-coach Henrik Lindhard.
Lindhard is both a goalkeeper for Brabrand and also their assistant manager, which creates an interesting dynamic when it comes to team selection.
But Nygaard has been back in the team lately, making his comeback to the starting lineup against VSK Aarhus on April 25th.

The comeback game went well, with Nygaard keeping a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw. He was then trusted to start the next two games as well, letting in one goal in a 1-1 draw with FC Helsingor and another in a 1-0 defeat to Fremad Amager.
Despite the couple of goals conceded, Nygaard will be pleased to be playing and to have kept the scores relatively low. The goalkeeper has made 11 saves across the three games, so he’s been kept pretty busy.
Brabrand are also in a decent position with regards to their primary goal for the remainder of the season – avoiding relegation. The team have five games remaining and they sit eight points clear of the relegation zone, so whilst it’s not done yet, there’s a bit of a buffer there.

Perhaps part of Nygaard’s return to the team is about trying to show him he’ll get chances if he sticks around, with Brabrand sporting director Andreas Rasch-Christensen recently suggesting an extended stay is a possibility.
“We are really happy to have him here, and I will certainly be open to a dialogue about further progress. I think he is doing well and would like to extend such a loan,” the director said.
“Whether that’s realistic remains to be seen. It hasn’t been discussed with Arsenal yet, but I could imagine that Arsenal has some plans for him. In any case, we’re certainly not uninterested.”
Over the course of the season so far, Nygaard has made 10 appearances for Brabrand.
