Arsenal have completed the signing of Habeeb Ogunneye, the 20-year-old full-back who was previously with Manchester United.

Ogunneye arrives with senior experience already behind him after a loan spell at Newport County, while he has also represented England Under-17s.

“It feels great to be here, it’s such a big club,” Habeeb said.

“When I heard [Arsenal] were interested in me, I said to my agents it’s a no-brainer. Seeing all the young players that are coming through as well, so I just wanted to come straight away.

“I just wanted to be part of that group, and win games together. It’s good playing with good players, good defenders; it’s only going to better you.”

The move adds another young player to Arsenal’s development ranks, with Ogunneye expected to be part of the club’s Under-21 squad.

Reporting after the announcement also states that he has been given the No 62 shirt for EFL Trophy matches and training, although that detail comes from Arsenal Youth rather than Arsenal’s first-team announcement.
