Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal in principle with Barcelona for Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazil forward now moving closer to a permanent departure from north London.

Multiple reports put the agreement at about €10 million, or £8.6 million, before add-ons.

The transfer has not yet been completed, but negotiations are understood to be at an advanced stage.

Sky Sports reports that Arsenal and Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle, with the remaining details still being worked through by all parties.

BBC Sport also describes negotiations as advanced and says completion is expected before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Barcelona have reportedly made arrangements for Jesus to travel, with Arsenal authorising the trip.

A medical is scheduled for Monday.

Reports have also suggested that the 29-year-old will sign a two-year contract with an option for a third.

The move comes after Barcelona were unable to make progress in their pursuit of Julian Alvarez, with Atletico Madrid unwilling to sell the Argentine forward to their La Liga rivals.

Atletico are said to be confident of re-integrating Alvarez into the squad after he reportedly told Mikel Arteta he did not want to return to England.

Jesus scored 32 goals, with 22 assists in 132 games for Arsenal after signing from Manchester City in 2022, but the importance of his arrival can never be overstated.
