Reports linking Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow with a move to Arsenal as a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale are starting to gather pace.
Reports from the Netherlands earlier this week suggested the Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow is high on Arsenal’s summer transfer shortlist, and those claims have now spread to the English media.
John Cross of the Mirror reports that Arsenal are indeed in the market for Bijlow, and they’ll decide whether or not to press ahead with a deal in the next few days.
Cross claims the goalkeeper could be available for around £10m, with just two years left on his contract.
Sam Dean of The Telegraph has also weighed in, confirming that Arsenal are considering signing the goalkeeper this summer.
Dean reports that Bijlow is on the Gunners list of targets, and he’s expected to be available for significantly less than the £21m price tag on his head in 2023.
The initial reports from the Netherlands suggested both Arsenal and Liverpool are targeting Bijlow, but Cross claims Arne Slot has other targets and areas to strengthen at this stage.
Arsenal reportedly see Bijlow as a good fit for their attacking style given his abilities on the ball, and they view his age (26) favourably, wanting a slightly more experienced goalkeeper.
Bijlow has made 143 appearances for Feyenoord, he’s played in the Champions League, and he’s made eight appearances for his country.
If not for a couple of injuries over the last 12 months, he could have been in contention to start at the Euros. For now, he’s at least in the Dutch preliminary squad.
Those injuries are worth mentioning, with Bijlow suffering two wrist fractures and a calf injury since the start of 2023. He’s missed 41 games for club and country over the last year and a half.
Yet the goalkeeper still managed to make 24 appearances in 2023/24, keeping nine clean sheets.
