Newcastle United are exploring a deal for Aaron Ramsdale, and the goalkeeper’s exit from Arsenal now looks like a near certainty, according to reports.

Luke Edwards reports for The Telegraph that Newcastle United are looking at potential goalkeeping targets to upgrade on Martin Dubravka, and they hold a strong interest in Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

A deal for Ramsdale is already being explored, with the goalkeeper having previously played for Newcastle boss Eddie Howe at AFC Bournemouth.

Yet Edwards adds that Ramsdale isn’t the only option on Newcastle’s list, and they’re also looking at Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Charles Watts reports that nothing has been agreed yet between Newcastle and Ramsdale, but the goalkeeper is expected to be on the move in the next couple of months. It’s a matter of when he leaves, not if.

Ramsdale recently rubbished suggestions that he’d already agreed a deal with Newcastle, but that doesn’t rule out that a deal could happen, and reports have continued to emerge since his tweet.

Those reports claim Arsenal are happy to let the goalkeeper leave if they can agree on a fair fee.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Arsenal are “100%” likely to bring in a new backup goalkeeper this summer, suggesting Ramsdale is indeed on the way out.

The 26-year-old made 11 appearances this season, losing his starting spot to on-loan David Raya. Raya is set to join permanently from Brentford in the summer.
