Paris Saint-Germain are working on a free-transfer move for Wilfried Zaha, who had previously been linked with Arsenal.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Paris Saint-Germain are working on a free transfer move for Wilfried Zaha, alongside another potential deal for Marcus Thuram. The Ligue 1 side are expected to make a decision next week.

Romano adds that whilst Zaha has had offers from Saudi Arabia, he’s prioritising European clubs at the moment.

Reports in the English media had also linked Zaha with an enquiry from Atletico Madrid, with the winger having until the end of June to decide whether to accept Crystal Palace’s latest contract offer.

Palace are offering a new long-term contract worth around £200,000 per week, which Zaha is seriously considering.

But the 30-year-old is taking his time over a decision, and the chance to play in the Champions League is said to appeal to him.

Back in April, Arsenal were linked with a move to sign Zaha on the expiry of his Palace contract.

RMC Sport reported that Arsenal, Chelsea, and Marseille were on the shortlist of interested clubs, with the Premier League clubs viewed as favourites due to Marseille’s financial difficulties.

The Daily Mail claimed Arsenal were a potential suitor if Zaha’s contract extension talks didn’t pan out, particularly with the player so keen on European football.

A free transfer move also didn’t seem beyond the realms of possibility, freeing up funds to pursue players in key positions like midfield.

But Arsenal links to Zaha have been fading in recent weeks.

Initially, there were reports that the Gunners favoured Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby as a primary target.

Then, in the wake of the news that Reiss Nelson is set to extend his contract, the pursuit of a wide forward has seemingly taken a back seat altogether.
