Nottingham Forest have submitted an £18m bid to sign Palmeiras’ Danilo, with Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder cooling.

The Telegraph report that Nottingham Forest are in talks with Palmeiras over a move for Danilo, and they’ve launched an £18m move to sign the Brazilian.

Forest aren’t the only interested club, and even if it’s accepted, the £18m fee could rise with add-ons.

Still, Steve Cooper is keen to add a defensive midfielder to his squad and they’re making a serious move to do a deal.

The Telegraph add that Arsenal are among the teams who have investigated Danilo’s signing, but their interest has reportedly cooled since the summer.

Goal Brasil had recently reported that Palmeiras had received their first offer to sell Danilo, with Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and AS Monaco all willing to sign the midfielder.

But it looks like that offer came from another source entirely – Nottingham Forest.

Goal also claimed that Arsenal made a £20m offer in the summer window. Palmeiras weren’t willing to sell at the time, but they’re open to reasonable offers now.

Arsenal’s focus is currently on signing Mykhaylo Mudryk, but they could reportedly discuss a move for a midfielder later in January.

For now, it doesn’t look like that’s going to be Danilo, but perhaps Nottingham Forest’s bid will spark the Gunners into action.
