Arsenal appear to be closing in on the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk in the January window with media reports in England, Spain and Italy all pointing towards a deal and the player, speaking ‘hypothetically’ saying he would ‘choose Arsenal’.

A number of clubs have been trying to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk ahead of the upcoming January transfer window but throughout the entire saga, Arsenal have always, reportedly, been ahead of their competition.

In Italy, some sites seem to be coming to terms with Arsenal beating out Juventus while in Spain, the same is happening in regards to the interest of Real Madrid.

It was claimed last month that Mudryk (and Tielemans) have their hearts set on a move to north London while a few weeks ago, claims were being made that Arsenal and Shakhtar have found an agreement somewhere in the region of €40m.

As I was reading though a report from Spain, they noted, “The young Ukrainian footballer has already spoken about a hypothetical interest from Arsenal and Madrid in an interview on Vlada Sedan’s Youtube channel: “From a purely hypothetical perspective… if there was the option of being a bench player at Real Madrid or a starter at Arsenal, I would probably choose Arsenal.”

If you don’t know, Vlada Sedan is Oleksandr Zinchekno’s wife, who is a Ukrainian journalist.
