Portsmouth outlet The News report that Miguel Azeez underwent a medical with the League One club on Friday, but the deal for the midfielder to complete a season-long loan move still isn’t done.

HampshireLive also report that Portsmouth are closing in on the transfer, but manager Danny Cowley suggests there’s currently nothing new he can tell us about a move.

“There is no update on Miguel, we would like to add a creative midfielder,” Cowley told BBC Radio Solent. “He is a player that we are aware of but we will have to wait and see how it all unfolds.

“For us it’s not to talk about a player that’s at another club. We’re respectful to the other club involved.”

Pictures circulating on social media on Thursday purportedly showed Miguel Azeez at Portsmouth’s training ground ahead of a loan move, though it was admittedly difficult to make out whether it really was the Arsenal academy midfielder in the shots.

Charles Watts wrote that negotiations were indeed taking place between Arsenal and Portsmouth over a loan.

There were reportedly several clubs in the mix for the Arsenal teenager, but Portsmouth have a bit of an edge in the form of Cowley, who previously worked with Emile Smith Rowe at Huddersfield Town.
