Arsenal still haven’t ended their interest in James Maddison and his camp remain calm about the potential transfer, according to a report.

TheAFCBell report that despite reports from reliable sources about Arsenal opening negotiations for Martin Ødegaard, this doesn’t mean a move for Leicester City’s James Maddison is completely off the table.

Maddison’s camp remain calm about the Arsenal links to Ødegaard, well aware that the Maddison deal is difficult and it’s only natural for the Gunners to explore other options in tandem. They also deny reports that the Maddison-to-Arsenal rumours are simply agent-driven.

TheAFCBell don’t deny that the Maddison deal isn’t close, and that Ødegaard has always been an alternative option, but they believe the Real Madrid man is a backup to the Leicester City playmaker.

Once again, what we’re left with is a stand-off between TheAFCBell and the media at large.

The Athletic suggest Arsenal’s interest in Maddison is over, if it ever existed, The Telegraph claim the pursuit of Ødegaard is more likely, and there are few other English media sources still in agreement with the Arsenal insider.

But we’ve been here before, with Thomas Partey, so perhaps the Bell can strike twice.
