Arsenal are in talks to sign Norwegian winger George Lewis after the 19-year-old spent time on trial with the club earlier this year.
Goal claim George Lewis is in talks with Arsenal over a free transfer to the club. The winger had a trial in March, after spending the last few years in Norwegian football. If the deal goes through, Lewis will reportedly join up with Steve Bould’s u23 team.
Lewis previously played for Tromso IL, Tromsdalen and Fram Larvik, before becoming a free agent and spending time with Ipswich Town in England.
It wouldn’t be the first time Arsenal caught sight of a young player at Ipswich, having signed Marcelo Flores from the same club last year.
Lewis and his agent both seem confident of completing the move to North London. First, Lewis stated in an Instagram Live that he’ll join the club. Then, Jeorge Bird reported that Lewis’ agent says he’ll sign for the Gunners ahead of next season.
At the time, there was some scepticism about whether this was just agent talk. The fact that the more mainstream outlets are starting to pick it up gives it more validity, though.
It’s difficult to give a detailed profile on a player who was only just getting started in Norwegian football. Needless to say, if he does end up signing for the u23s, we’ll keep an eye on him for our usual youth match reports.
