Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed how he got his nickname ‘Micki’ because I’m sure you’d never be able to work that out for yourself.

Taking part in a Roma Q&A session, one fan obviously asked him how he got his nickname, so the Armenian explained.

Since leaving Arsenal under Emery, Mkhitaryan has shone in ways he struggled during his time in England. Although he’s suffered a number of injuries, the 31-year-old has still managed to score six goals, with three assists in just 811 Serie A minutes.

“Compared to what Fonseca asks of me, the Arsenal manager wanted another type of game,” Mkhitaryan told Quotidiano. “I feel better with Paulo [at Roma] because we play more proactive football that better reflects my characteristics.

“I can’t say anything about my stay at the moment because nothing is moving. I don’t know when we will go back to playing and what will happen this summer. In football, everything changes quickly. One day you are here and another you are somewhere else, you never know what can happen.”

Mikel Arteta has previously spoken about the possibility of Mkhitaryan playing again for Arsenal when his loan in Rome ends but it seems likely he will move on permanently.

About his quarantine in Italy, Mkhitaryan said in March, “I’m trying to mix everything together: the ball, use a bike and other exercises with the dumbbells. I’m trying to do everything the club has put me on the training program.

“It is not easy because obviously you have limited space and there are some things that you do not have at home, but we are trying to reap the best benefits. Obviously, it is not the best solution to kick around the apartment, because it annoys the neighbours. At the moment, I am trying to do everything without the ball, because it is more important to be physically fit than technically.”

With the death toll in Italy standing at 19,468 on Sunday morning, the country reported 4,694 new cases on April 11.

They have, however, been overtaken by Spain and the US in terms of total number of deaths. Trumpland has now reported 20,580 deaths while Spain has 16,606.

At the time of writing, the UK had reported 9,875 deaths, however deaths outside of hospitals in England are not currently being included in that total.
