Sead Kolasinac came off early in Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Everton, and Andre Gomes was clearly sympathetic to his situation.

As you may already know, Gomes suffered a serious ankle injury under a challenge from Heung-Min Son in November. Rather incredibly, he made his return to the pitch on Sunday, coming off the bench at the Emirates Stadium.

Before that, he watched one of his opponents succumb to a potentially serious injury. Kolasinac left the field with his arm in a makeshift sling, and Gomes joined the Arsenal fans in applauding him off. You can watch him do so in the video below from 1:05:

The Arsenal fanbase appreciated the gesture coming from an opponent. One wrote in the YouTube comments: “Who saw Andre Gomes clapping when Kolasinac came off. He knows how it feels to get [subbed] off due to injury. Respect.”

Others replied to applaud Gomes’ respect, while one wrote it showed the player “is a good sportsman”.

A fair portion of the supporters inside the ground also gave Gomes a round of applause after his return from injury later in the game. He didn’t seem to be suffering ill-effects despite the recent injury, so good for him.
