Arsenal looked like they were going to scrape a one nil win in Portugal against Vitoria only to throw it away in true Emery fashion but, regardless of the result, the game left fans more desperate than ever to get rid of their head coach.

I went for a nap before the match, what with kickoff being slap bang in the middle of my usual naptime and when I woke about 20 minutes before kickoff, I checked the team.

Initially, I was excited, still in my sleepy state.

The team looked adventurous.

Then I remembered this is Unai Emery and it probably meant a back five against the group’s bottom team.

The reality was worse than that.

Outshot once again, this pass map of the first half sums up Unai Emery as a coach.

Dani Ceballos’ hamstring injury, no doubt from being overused, finally meant that Nicolas Pepe was allowed to take free kicks ad it was, of course, from a set-piece that we scored the first goal of the game.

It was a defender on the scoresheet once again, and defenders who registered most of our efforts on Wednesday.

There’s nothing more I can say here that I haven’t been saying all season.

I have no clue what the board think they see that even hints at improvement from this man.

This is Emery playing the football he wants and it’s horrendous.

We might have got a point today but if you’re happy with that watching that performance, having watched what has went before this season, you best not tune in at the weekend when Brendan Rodgers is going to take revenge for being mocked when linked with the Arsenal job.

If you want Arsenal to play like a promoted team that relies on set pieces to win games, then good luck to you.

Personally, I’d rather spoon my eyes out with a vomit-covered razor.
