Lucas Torreira is not for sale, even if AC Milan offer as much as €40m, according to reports in Italy.

The Italian media went into overdrive this week claiming Lucas Torreira was unhappy at Arsenal and AC Milan wanted a move. Di Marzio, Alfredo Pedulla, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and the rest all weighed in to push a possible transfer.

Just a few days later and the wheels seem to have come off the story. The English media have rubbished the claims of Torreira’s unhappiness, as has the player himself.

Even simply from a common sense point of view, the move made no sense. It’s clear that Milan don’t have the budget to be spending ~€50m on Torreira, and why would Arsenal sell for less just a year after buying him and helping him adapt to English football?

It hasn’t taken long for the Italian outlets to concede defeat, with Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato) writing today that Arsenal have blocked Torreira’s exit, and he’s not for sale this summer.

Milan are reportedly now moving on to Sampdoria’s Dennis Praet as an alternative option.
