A number of sources in Italy are currently reporting the desire of Torreira, his agent and AC Milan to bring the Uruguayan back to the country and reunite him with his old Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo (now with Milan).

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed on Sky Sports that Milan were working with Torreira’s agent to find the right deal to present to Arsenal, though he admitted the Gunners wouldn’t sell cheap.

Alfredo Pedulla writes that Torreira is unhappy as things stand, despite not having any particular problem with Arsenal, the league or London. He reportedly just doesn’t feel he fits in.

La Gazzetta dello Sport add that Milan plan to submit their formal offer this weekend, relying on Torreira’s desire to return to Italy to help push the move through. Giovanni Capuano of Corriere dello Sport reiterated this same line.

Gazzetta.it claim talks will start as soon as today, and Torreira is one of Milan’s key targets this summer. Meanwhile, Simone Cristao of Radio Rossonera says Arsenal’s financial situation after missing out on the Champions League means they aren’t closing the door completely on a transfer.

In England, however, the suggestion is that Arsenal will fight to keep Torreira. The Mirror say Unai Emery sees him as vital to the side, and the club want to hold onto him despite the player’s interest in leaving.

The player, meanwhile, recently suggested that he would be at Arsenal for ‘years’.
