English Football League performance analyst Blades Analytics posted a graphic on Twitter showing League One central midfielders who are in the top 50% in the league for tackles plus interceptions per 90 minutes, as well as scoring contributions per 90 minutes.

Bielik’s position on the graph shows he’s way ahead of the competition in the defensive category. He makes at least one more tackle or interception per 90 minutes than any other midfielder.

That’s in addition to the fact that Bielik is in the top 50% in the league for passes leading to goals. Though he’s not nearly as high up in that regard, the fact that he is so impressive defensively whilst still managing a respectable output at the other end makes for positive viewing for Arsenal fans.

Of course, it’s only League One, and the defender-turned-midfielder will have to prove he can do the same for a bigger club next season. However, this is certainly a step in the right direction after an injury-ravaged loan spell last season.
