Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, in a disappointing result despite coming back from behind late on.

There’s no denying that things could have been much worse in the end. Bernd Leno’s heroics first kept Arsenal in the game, then prevented Wolves regaining the lead in the latter stages.

However, in truth, those chances only came about as the Gunners threw everyone forward in search of a winner. Wolves created very little before the last 10 minutes.

The problem was that Arsenal conceded a soft goal and then couldn’t break their opponents down for most of the 90 minutes, not that they conceded a couple of chances at the end.

Let’s have a look at our individual player ratings for the match.

3Forwards

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 5

Aubameyang offered so little as a winger that it ended up disrupting the entire team as Özil and Iwobi moved over to try and help. He looked better in the second half playing a little more centrally until he missed a sitter of a chance that absolutely had to go in.

There’s little point starting the striker unless it’s in the middle. He was so much more effective earlier in the season as an impact substitute.

Alex Iwobi 5

Iwobi had a couple of bad moments in the first half, particularly when it came to linking up with Bellerin, which he struggled to do. He was at least trying to drive at Wolves and, in his defence, it’s been clear for weeks that he’s much more effective on the left-hand side of the pitch.

The half-time substitution was probably a mix of a tactical and performance-based change.

Alexandre Lacazette 6.5

Lacazette didn’t have as many chances as he would’ve liked, mostly thanks to those behind him. He worked hard, tracked back well, and had one good chance well blocked. A decent performance, but not quite enough.
