Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, in a disappointing result despite coming back from behind late on.

There’s no denying that things could have been much worse in the end. Bernd Leno’s heroics first kept Arsenal in the game, then prevented Wolves regaining the lead in the latter stages.

However, in truth, those chances only came about as the Gunners threw everyone forward in search of a winner. Wolves created very little before the last 10 minutes.

The problem was that Arsenal conceded a soft goal and then couldn’t break their opponents down for most of the 90 minutes, not that they conceded a couple of chances at the end.

Let’s have a look at our individual player ratings for the match.

2Midfield

Lucas Torreira 7

Once again, Torreira seemed to be everywhere defensively, snuffing out counter attacks before they could even get going. He had a decent shot at one point too. His passing was solid, if unexciting.

Granit Xhaka 5.5

Xhaka was partly to blame for Wolves’ goal, which made the whole match a lot easier for the away side. In his defence, the pass to him was poor enough that he could be entitled to believe it was intended for someone else. Nonetheless, a major error.

In the second half, the Swiss international improved, as his passing was accurate and effective as it so often is. He had to deal with playing out of position at the end once again as well. Arsenal need Nacho Monreal back badly right now.

Mesut Özil 6

Özil probably just had too much to do on this occasion, as Wolves gave him absolutely no space to work with and Aubameyang and Iwobi offered very little as outlets in front of him.

As a result, he struggled to make much happen, though did somehow still create more chances than anyone else on the team.
