Arsenal may have only won a single point against Chelsea but they deserved all three… if you forget how we defended.

Here’s how they all rated individually:

Midfield

Granit Xhaka – 7

The midfielder was quiet except for the foul he committed, which led to a yellow card. He completed 88% of his passes and won three tackles.

Jack Wilshere – 8

The midfielder was once again keen and scored the goal which put Arsenal ahead. It was clear he wanted to make a good impression and the atmosphere of the London derby spurred him on.

He also completed 85% of his passes, completed two dribbles and won an aerial duel.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 8

Another huge, mature performance from the 20-year-old. He made a superb last-man tackle to deny Chelsea another goal and won six tackles overall. However, he could have done better for Chelsea second.

Hector Bellerin – 7

This was one of the wing-back’s best performances of the season. The 22-year-old has been really out of form for around a year but he made Alonso look ridiculous in the first half.

However, he was caught out of position once or twice, leaving the three centre-backs exposed. This is a habit he seems to have gotten into and it’s part of the reason we struggle.

What’s more, while the penalty we conceded was soft, it was stupid of him to stick a leg out on Eden Hazard. He came back to win us a point by scoring but the spot-kick shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Next up, forwards
