Despite having a fierce on-pitch rivalry when Sir Alex Ferguson managed Manchester United, Arsene Wenger and Fergie always have had immense respect for each other.

  • Fergie doesn’t believe that sacking Wenger will necessarily bring success
  • Compares Wenger to himself at United and Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest
  • Says Wenger is one of a kind

Speaking recently, Fergie stood up for his former rival, insisting that he’s amazing and that people don’t seem to realise what he’s done for the club.

The former United boss pointed out that there’s no evidence to say that sacking a manager will automatically help a struggling club. However, there’s plenty of evidence to prove what a fantastic manager Le Professeur has been for Arsenal.

“I just wonder, really do they realise the job that Arsene’s done,” Fergie said.

“The most amazing thing about him is this: he’s come through a forest of criticism for months now and he’s never bowed.

“He’s seen it right through, showed that determination, that stubbornness, and I think when you look at that, it’s a quality. That is a quality.

“And I’m not sure we’ll ever get another manager like that.”
